Ángel Gómez Fuentes, un corresponsal de raza

Angel Gómez Fuentes es periodista y ha sido corresponsal de RTVE en Roma y París. Ha estado con nosotros en una tertulia contando detalles de sus encuentros con personajes importantes, entre el que ha destacado con mucho Juan Pablo II, recordando en especial los días de su agonía y muerte.
Cuando se le preguntó por presiones, comentó que siempre se le ha respetado su independencia aunque cuando hacía una valoración objetiva del Papa en RTVE era frecuente recibir críticas de IU y en la época de Aznar a veces se le sugería un tratamiento de la guerra de Irak proclive a la línea oficial. También comentó como se le respeta en ABC sus críticas a Berlusconi.
Al final de la serie de fotos del encuentro, aparecen unas imágenes del periodista en video en su último destino como corresponsal en París.

Angel Gómez Fuentes is a journalist and has been a correspondent for RTVE in Rome and Paris. He joined us in a get together where he told us about the many encounters he had with key figures, among which, he specified having recorded much of Pope John Paul II especially his agony and death. When asked about pressure, he said that his independence has always been respected even when asked to do an objective assessment of the Pope on RTVE which received frequent criticism from IU and the Aznar premiership. Sometimes it’s been suggested that the treatment of the war in Iraq was inclined by the party policy. Also he said that he has been respected by ABC because of his criticism of Berlusconi.
